Betul Eksi earned her PhD degree in Sociology in January 2016 from Northeastern University. She currently works as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Humanities Center at Northeastern University. She is also affiliated with the Department of Sociology & Anthropology. As a political sociologist, and a gender scholar, Betul’s areas of research interest include masculinities of the state, policing and security in the Middle East and militarization of the police. Her dissertation research examines the persistent centrality of multiple masculinities in the reproduction of the state institutions in Turkey. Her current research focuses on the militarization of the police in Turkey.
