Grand Challenges in Coastal Resiliency: Transforming Coastal Engineering Research to Climate Adaptation Actions
The Northeastern Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering will host the "Grand Challenges in Coastal Resiliency" panel on May 9th at the Alumni Center. Moderated by GRI's Jerome Hajjar, the panel will focus on the coastal engineering research and the challenge of developing resilient social and civil infrastructure in the face of climate change.
Panelists will include GRI faculty affiliates Edward Beighley and Jim Chen; Lisa Engler of the Massachusetts Office of Coastal Zone Management, Jason Hellendrung of Tetra Tech, Julie Rosati of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and Carl Spector of the Boston Department of the Environment.
The goal of this panel is to discuss the current state and priorities of coastal resiliency, particularly in this region, and to address how Northeastern can best work towards addressing solutions to these pressing issues.
