SUMMARY:Space Diplomacy workshop
DESCRIPTION:This event will take place Thursday\, November 18 2021. View event details and register to attend. \nFifty years after the first moon landing\, a quantum leap is underway in space as a domain of human activity. The global space economy has rapidly grown to almost US$400 billion in size\, and will likely more than triple by 2040 (compared to 2017). There are hundreds of actors involved\, from space agencies to private companies to start-ups. Over 70 countries have space programs and 14 have launch capabilities. These developments have involved intense transnational and international cooperation\, both across public and private sectors.  With such rapid changes underway\, this workshop takes stock of how these developments impact international relations\, particularly in terms of the practice and impact of diplomacy.  Experts from across the US\, Europe\, and Asia will participate\, resulting in the publication of a special issue in The Hague Journal of Diplomacy edited by Prof. Mai’a K. Davis Cross.
