The Envision Resilience Challenge

Background: GRI Faculty Affiliate Professor Sara Carr and her Northeastern architecture studio students recently participated in the Envision Resilience Challenge, envisioning designs for sea level rise around Narragansett Bay alongside six other schools. Work was displayed at the Waterfire Arts Center in Providence and Senator Sheldon Whitehouse spoke at the opening.

Sara Jensen Carr is an Assistant Professor of Architecture and the Program Director for the Master of Design in Sustainable Urban Environments at Northeastern University. She teaches courses in architecture and landscape visualization, research methods, public engagement, resilient design, and seminars on built environment and health.

Her work and research on the connections between urban landscape, human health, and social equity has been recognized by the Graham Foundation, Mellon Foundation, and the J.M. Kaplan Fund as well as published in Preventive Medicine, LA+ Journal, and Journal of Architectural Education, among others.
