New Boston Mayor, Michelle Wu, has caught the eye of many Bostonians, not only because she is the first  woman and first person of color to be elected to the position but she’s also the first person to run on a Green New Deal platform and win an election for any executive office.

Jennie Stephens, GRI Director of Strategic Relationships, recently was interviewed on an op-ed she co-authored with Alaina Boyle, that discussed why she believes Mayor Wu’s Green New Deal is a different kind of Climate Policy because of how it emphasizes and  addresses the climate crisis and economic injustice by focusing on holistic integrated public investments in people, households, and communities rather than more narrow climate policies like technology mandates, emission standards, or carbon taxes.
