by Jennie Stephens, Matthew J. Burke, Brock Gibian, Elie Jordi, Richard Watts
This journal article explores how energy democracy principles are being operationalized in Vermont through social innovations and collaborations as the state commits to transitioning to renewable energy. The article examines both achievements and challenges, as well as areas of opportunity. The study finds that while there is push for increasing renewable energy, there is less effort being put into how to reduce fossil fuel usage in part due to universal dependence on fossil fuels, particularly for transportation and heating.
