Potential Contributions of Market-Systems Development Initiatives for Building Climate Resilience
by Laura Kuhl, Global Resilience Institute
In this article, Kuhl uses two cases studies, Honduras and Ethiopia, to demonstrate how market systems influence climate resilience. Through the implementation of Feed the Future, both Honduras and Ethiopia were able to improve their agriculture sectors using new mechanisms to not only prepare for any future climate crises, but allow their own organizations to expand. By improving prices, diversifying and increasing production, companies provide themselves with more opportunities and build resilience by not being dependent on a single crop.
