Barriers and Drivers of Health Information Technology Use for the Elderly, Chronically Ill, and Underserved

Topics: Healthcare and Public Health,

This research report, prepared on behalf of the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, considers the relationship between increasingly common health information technologies and their use by elderly, chronically ill, and underserved populations. The authors conclude that there is  substantial potential for these tools to be used by patients in these groups for self-care monitoring, with the most effective technologies being those that the user perceived to be most helpful and convenient.
