DHS Action Needed to Verify Some Chemical Facility Information and Manage Compliance Process

This report overviews Department of Homeland Security efforts to assess and address the security risks of hazardous chemical storage facilities. It focuses on how a terrorist attack or other disaster could have devastating effects on chemical facilities, discussing ways DHS can better address these concerns. Specifically, it recommends that DHS verify the self-reported "Distance of Concern" of chemical storage facilities after estimating 44 percent were misreported.
