East Asia’s Nuclear Policies

This piece explores the aftermath of the 3/11 Fukushima incident and how it has impacted policy-decision making, not only in Japan but other east Asian countries. The incident also resulted in nuclear terminations across various European countries. The publication offers policy recommendations including giving citizens real vetoing power over nuclear reactors, diversifying to avoid single-industry “castle towns”, building public participation in renewable power planning and design, and diversifying energy grid sources by adding renewable resources.
