Economic Analysis of the Consequences of a Potential Anthrax Terrorist Attack in the Pacific Northwest: Business Income Losses and Real Estate Price Declines

This report analyzes the effects of an anthrax attack on a major metropolitan area in the Pacific Northwest, including economic, psychological, and physical losses with particular emphasis on real estate and business. It also explores and refines various options for subsidies to mitigate the projected consequences of an attack by simulating two main resulting scenarios: significant casualties and major out-migration. Specifically, it provides a method for predicting drops in property values and returns on investment that could result from an anthrax attack.
