Epidemiological and virological differences in human clustered and sporadic infections with avian influenza A H7N9

Topics: Healthcare and Public Health,

This article studies the difference between the H7N9 virus when people are infected directly from birds versus human-to-human clustered transmission. It examines different comparative epidemiology and virology studies in 72 cases, in 17 family clusters, and 8 live bird market clusters. The study found that there was no significant difference in fatality between the transmission methods, although they did find differences in mortality based on age and other factors such as primary cases versus secondary cases.
