Fake News: National Security in the Post-Truth Era | Global Resilience Institute

This report focuses on the increase of disseminated fake news over the internet, and how to solve the discrepancy between the rate it is increasing and the commensurate growth in the ability to counter it. Through various case studies, the report finds that there must be action at a legislative and non-legislative level, as a higher level of technology, personal bias, different kinds of fake news, and empty words have only made the problem worse. It concludes that society-wide collaboration, which includes public-private interaction, is necessary to stop the propagation of fake news and to promote a united effort to counter it.
