Numerical modeling of salt marsh morphological change induced by Hurricane Sandy

This study used the Delft3D model to examine elevation change and hydrodynamic changes that occurred due to Hurricane Sandy. The study found that model results agreed with in situ field measurements, and that salt marshes on the west side of the bay experienced net erosion, while those on the east side of the bay experienced net deposition. The study highlights the importance of coastal vegetation in protection against erosion.
