Progress and Challenges with Selected Port Security Programs

This testimony of Stephen L. Caldwell, the Director of Homeland Security and Justice at the GAO, before the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, discusses how the Department of Homeland Security and two of its agencies, the Coast Guard and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), have made "substantial progress" in maritime domain awareness and information sharing, the security of domestic ports, and the protection of the global supply chain. However, it points out several areas for improvement and highlights some of the challenges facing these agencies.
