Unmanned Systems: an Emerging Threat to Waterside Security; Bad robots are coming

Topics: Information Technology and Cybersecurity, Water/Wastewater,

This paper explores the security implications of the growth of unmanned vehicles as the barrier to entry for manufacturing them falls, and analyzes how to mitigate the risks posed by them. The amount of unmanned systems in the air, on the water, and underwater, has increased significantly. Consequently, the threat of misuse of these technologies by terrorist groups and crime syndicates is also increasing. This is especially true for given that most marine security is focused above the waterline.
