GRI featured in emergency management blog, ‘Disaster Zone’
Two videos detailing the mission of the Global Resilience Institute (GRI) were highlighted this week in a blog dedicated to the world of emergency management and homeland security. Both pieces define resilience, with one featuring Northeastern University President Joseph E. Aoun. In the second video GRI Founding Director Dr. Stephen Flynn goes into detail on what it means to be resilient. “Resilience is that capacity to withstand a disruption or a shock and when you get knocked down, get back up and learn from it -- and adapt -- and get better the next time around,” explains Flynn. "What we’re starting to realize is that, as a global community, we just have to get better at dealing with disruptions, we can’t prevent all bad things from happening.
