Co-developing use cases of how community stakeholders have used the National Water Model in their water-related decision making

Applying key recommendations co-developed during Phase 1, the project team worked closely with community stakeholders to apply the NWM to their own resilience work. The result is a series of use cases that can educate and inspire communities across the United States to leverage the NWM in their own work.
Project Background
Beginning in Sep 2023, in Phase 2 of this study, the project team worked with stakeholders from across the US to co-develop use cases of how the NWM can be applied to meet a diverse set of localized needs. In Phase 1 of this study the project team learned that while nearly all stakeholders engaged in resilience work used water science data and information, very few of them were trained hydrologists. Additionally, we also learned that most resilience stakeholders had not previously heard of the NWM and, of those that had, very few had experience using it. The Phase 1 stakeholders recommended creating use cases to show how others are leveraging the NWM in their work and to increase the accessibility of the NWM.
On June 17th, we convened a group of NWM experts, users, and community resilience stakeholders from across the United States for the Forum on the Use of the National Water Model for Community Planning. A recording of this event is available below:
