This event will take place Tuesday, December 7 2021 in 909 Renaissance Park.

The COVID-19 pandemic amplified a broad spectrum of inequities in communities throughout our Commonwealth. The race to respond to the escalating pandemic and vaccinate eligible individuals revealed important lessons about the role of community risk and resilience during a public health crisis. This presentation will explore, through the perspectives of local public health leaders, the relationship between resilience and equity and what we can do now to strengthen our ability to respond to the next big public health challenge.

Local health public leaders like Dr. Neil Maniar, Professor of the Practice, Associate Chair, and Director of the Master of Public Health (MPH) program in the Department of Health Sciences within the Bouvé́ College of Health Sciences at Northeastern University, helped co-develop and co-lead the Academic Public Health Volunteer Corps, and will be amongst the various public health professionals that would be sharing their commitment to improving the health of people in urban communities through interdisciplinary research.
