Background: These one-day summits will bring together scientists, managers, fishermen, and industry representatives to share the approaches and results of cooperative research projects, discuss opportunities for enhanced industry participation, review funding opportunities, and develop best practices for applying cooperative research results to assessments and management. The summits are also intended to facilitate regional coordination of cooperative research and development of new partnerships.
The goals of the Northeast Cooperative Research Summits are:
- Communicate and coordinate cooperative research efforts in the northeast region
- Develop best practices for applying cooperative research results to stock assessments and management
- Develop priorities for near-term science and management challenges that can be addressed by cooperative research
